Too committed?

I didn't hear the alarm go off this morning

I didn't even hear the phone ring

I turned the music blaring off in my sleep with the slight of my hand

I never turned on the hot water geyser

I didn't even open the door

7 am

8 am

9 am

10 am

11 am

My eyes opened

OUCH

My eyes felt like they were doing weights at a gym

10 pounds

Maybe even 20

Barely able to open them

My head hurt

Hellllppppp

My eyes opened ever so slightly

The sun

Ouch

Not fun

Coffeeeeee

I want cofeeeee

Noooo

Wait

I want, No I need sleep

My eyes hurt

My head hurts more

I sleep

The phone rings

I hear it now

I hear the voice on the other end

Crisis

'Help' they yelp

The sound resonates in my ear

Coffeeee

Helpppppp

I yelp

Damn I need to wash my hair

Helllpppp

Massaging my hair feels good

My sinuses suddenly feel better with the hot water melting them away

Like a hot knife in a slab of butter

Aaaahhhh

I'm squeaky clean

Bathed with my Lush soap

I smell like an Egyptian Goddess dressed in the finest cotton

My towel caresses me

The music springs to life on my mobile phone

Helllppp

They yelp again

My sinuses start to hurt

The coffee helps

I go to work

Am I too committed?

The princess in the tower

Thats what I felt like at the hotel I was staying at

The Leela property in Bangalore is a like a mirage

Its unreal

My room was absolutely gorgeous

The bathroom had enough room to fit a king size bed in there

The tub had a 6 foot by 8 foot mirror encased in a stunning dark wooden frame

All the toileteries were Molten Brown

The room had a balcony over looking the rock garden

It made me feel like a princess in the tower

All I needed to hear was someone saying

"Noojes Noojes let down your hair

So I may climb without a stair"

The only difference is that I would never let my knight in shining armour out of the tower without me

Ahh the dreams and joys of a beautiful hotel room

But then that would never have been complete without the wonderful company I had in my hotel room

I had the pleasure of meeting Byker7 (his link is on the right - 'Simply complicated' he refers to himself as) and his loverly wife (Lily that was for you)...

Harjee (an older friend than a blogger) pampered me like a princess and I met Mathanki's Void too a.k.a Floydgal (Yikes need to add her link)

We partied till the sun creeped through the window sill

And ate spicy Mee Goreng

Drank Zinfandels (I love the pinky colour) in the courtyard

And laughed till our cheeks could hurt no more

But I'm back home now

And I can't wait to see them all again

Thank You My New Friends

I love you all...

Leaving on a Jet Plane

I think I should start by being patriotic to all my fellow Indian bloggers

Happy Republic Day

I was totally shameless and woke up terribly late this morning, so I missed the Republic day parade on TV

I've been watching it ever since I was a kid and I missed it

Damn

But then that was because last nite I was out cheering on friends of mine that were having their first art show

And it wasn't just their art they were exhibiting

(I saw you smirking - LOL)

What I meant was they were also playing music live

They were pretty good

Did I mention this was in a very popular bar with wine on the house?

Oh and it was coupled with a show with these statue like men painted really strangely and dressed even stranger walking around and posing all over the bar in strange positions

I wish I had my camera but as I mentioned earlier its broken!

Anyways I got home late so I woke up late

It was a wonderful slumber though

Spent all day at home with the family and had a meeting at the other end of the city at 6:30pm

That went really well, I guess what helped was that the meeting took place in a nice hotel atrium with live music playing in the background

I wasn't complaining

The day ended with me seeing a really enjoyable film

And I got to the cinema before the trailers started

And staring at the blank screen with nothing on got me thinking

Its the same screen that conjures up so many mixed emotions

The same screen makes us laugh

The same screen can make us cry

The same screen jolts us in our seats

The same screen can send shivers down our spines

Damn

The power of the screen

And the screen is so much more powerful than the idiot box

Its incomparable

But I'm leaving on a jet plane tomorrow evening (my time)

I'm off to the Garden city

But I will be checking in on you guys

So leave me loads of comments will ya

I'll be heart broken if I see that no one cares if I'm dead or alive

LOL

Miss me :)

The Next Big Scam

Valentines day is coming up

And honestly I hate it

Yeah so ok I'm one of 'those' single people in the world that has no date

One of those people that go out to dinner on Valentines with a huge group of people and make a racket

Or on other years stay home and talk to the moon

I actually do talk to the moon

I find it very calming

Like a mother looking over my shoulder

I love my shadow too

It doesn't freak me out in the least

It's like a friend hovering around me

Someone I can talk to

Sometimes so much bigger than I am

And at other times virtually non-existant

Maybe this year I should take my shadow out to dinner on Valentines day

Get my shaow a Valentines day gift - like a big diamond ring with rainbows pouring out

Something to always be with my shadow

Yeah so I talk to myself

But thats gotten better since I starting talkin to you guys he he

But honestly looking back Valentines day goes back in history as the most romantic day of my life

But I'll leave that story for Valentines day

That will be my Valentines gift to you

But I have another project for you guys to start working on

So you'll be ready for the big V day

Call your plumbers NOW :)

Squeak Squeak

I love non-working Saturdays

I love the fact that I can wake up late

I love it when I can read or laze in bed watching TV after I wake up

I love my cuppa coffee in bed

I love the long uninterrupted showers I take

Fluffing my hair up into a lather

Masking my hair for more than two or three songs playing really loud

I love listening to Michael Buble on saturday mornings while I'm in my shower

I love using my purple loofah over and over and over again with my lavender aromatherapy shower gel

I love the squeaky clean sound from my freshly washed hair

I love the squeaky clean feeling after the long shower

I love the smell of the mint and eucalyptus that linger from my face wash

I love the hot water trickling from my head down to my toes

I love the feeling of the soft towel wrapped around me

I love my hair towel wrapped above my head

I love moisturising myself after my shower

I love blowdrying my freshly cut hair into perfect shape

I love non-working saturdays

I love being squeaky clean...

Masterpiece

Sorry Sorry Sorry

I have been so terribly busy, I have barely had time to breathe...

Firstly let me tell you all that dad's surgery went very very well and all is ok...

Besides that work has been busy busy busy busy busy n busier than you could ever imagine...

I've been clocking over 12 hours the last couple of days and honestly I need some serious sleep...

But there was something I saw uhm experienced the other day that I have to share with you all...

An elevator (lift) which is over one hundred years old in Mumbai and still working smoother than silk...

That too, its MANUAL :)

It even had an old wooden bench in it...

What a masterpiece...

Lemme know what you think...

What a great sense of humour!!!

I was walking down 'Colaba Causeway' yesterday.

Its a quaint street tucked away at the southern most tip of Bombay city.

Filled with toursits, arab men, street vendors, drug addicts and of course the local bombayites.
It had been ages since I had done the whole walk right from the heritage cinema - Regal - now playing 'Wedding crashers' right upto the fabulously located Bombay Presidency Radio club - the only club in Bombay with a pier that faces the famous Gateway of India and the coveted Taj Mahal hotel.

I walked up and down the streets looking at the new 'brand stores' such as Levis, Pepe, Benetton, Adidas, Rbk, Nike that were slowly but steadilly putting the local stores out of business...Sad but true...

While walking down the street, I stopped to stare at the wares being sold on the sidewalk.

Colourful beaded bags, long sequinced skirts flittering in the wind, shiny bangles in every colour imaginable...

And then I saw the shoe shop...

And I tore myelf away...

I reached the fairly newly opened "Theobroma" - food of the Gods as they called it...

I walked in...looked at the freshly baked croissants, bread, cake, pastry and the oh so famous walnut brownies...

It smelt divine...

But it wasn't calling out to me as much as it should have.

I walked out and walked straight toward a tiny shop a few metres away.

The authentic 'Tibbs Frankie' smell lured me there...the smell of the fresh chicken curry being cooked on an egg naan was too much to resist...

I went in to pay the old manager sitting on a rickety stool...

I looked up and I laughed at the sign board...

What a great sense of humour...

What say?

So Random

Yesterday was a totally random day.
I got to work and expected it to be a true tribute to "Friday the 13th" - a day from hell.
But honestly it started out way better than any other day I had had all week.
I smiled my way all the way till lunch.

And then the skies started to turn.
The universe conspired against me.
The sun decided not to shine on me anymore.
The dark cloud hovered right over my head.
It rained and poured on me and me alone.

And then like a stroke of magic
After a span of approximately seven hours
The sun came out again
Along with the rainbows
I was standing just by the pot of gold
And all I had to do was dig
Just a little bit
I dug

And there, it was
shining in the light
the pot of gold

The pot that would bring me glory
The pot that would bring me joy
The pot of success

But hey, it all comes with a bit of digging, right?

It reminds me of a saying that I think Paulo Coelho said (Personally I don't like his books) but this quote stuck with me...
It went something like this

"If you want something badly enough, the universe conspires to give it to you"

Hmm, there are alot of things I've wanted badly but never got...

Is it all about patience?

Is it dependent on whether the universe thinks its good for you?

Is it unconditional?

What do you think?

Rainbows

My cousin got engaged last night
My younger cousin sister actually
It's her second engagement
She looked terribly happy and thats so beautiful to see
I fell in love with her shoes
Bit odd to mention her shoes on her engagement right?
Well they really were exquisite...
The diamonds on the shoes were fighting for attention with the huge rock on her finger...
Ahhh diamonds...diamonds with rainbows pouring out of them...ahh diamonds...
One of my closest friends in the world
Right next to shoes and handbags
I've never been big on buying expensive clothes
I rather spend my money on shoes
But pants I put in a category of their own
I see buying expensive good pants as an investment
They're not clothes
They're the basics
Everyone needs good pants
But everyone needs better shoes
Shoes make the outfit
You could wear the most expensive designer dress in the world
But if you wear it with crappy shoes you may as well have been dressed in a rag sack
Hmmm shoes
But diamonds just complete the outfit
Diamonds are casual yet formal
They're diamonds for God's sake...
Doesn't anyone understand?
But yesterday was my cusions engagement
And she got herself a rainbow pouring out of her finger
But I still loved her shoes

A very happy un-birthday to me

Last night I was out at dinner with some of my buddies.

We were at this really nice Asian restaurant situated in the heart of the city on a rooftop seated under the open skies and stars

Yeah I was pleasantly surpried to see stars in this city too...

In any case half way through dinner they came up with this wise idea that we should celebrate my birthday.

Go figure...my birthday is ages away and there was zero significance to my birthday last night but that didn't stop them...

They went all the way...

Ordered me a cake with a candle and even sang "happy birthday" along with a localised hindi version...

"Tum jeeyo hazaro saal" which in english translates to may you live a thousand years...

They decided that since I've survived beyond being 29 years 6 months and more, I am now officially 30 years old (mathematically you see)...

Who is to argue with their logic after grape and grain being consumed...

But honestly, what great friends I have...

I may not have a boyfriend or a husband but I am truly blessed with great great friends...

Thank you...

And a happy un-birthday to me too *hic*

Bubbles, no trouble

Today is Bubble Bath day!

What on hell is bubble bath day?
Who on earth came up with the concept?
How did I figure out this valuable piece of information?
Well I got an update from the regulat greeting card sites informing me that TODAY is bubble bath day and the first thing out of my mouth was WHAAA....

I actually decided to do some research and figure out who on God's earth came up with the concept of Bubble bath day...and I found nothing.
Nothing meaning someone actually had a site devoted to bubble bath day and under origin it basically said that they had no clue where and when it all started.

Maybe it was a housewife, who needed some time off from her kids...
Maybe it was a single woman who needed the pampering...
Maybe it was a culinary man who smelt of pastry all week...
Maybe it was P&G trying to make a quick buck...

So whats your opinion?
Tell me an interesting story of how and why you think bubble bath day originated.

While you're busy doing that, I'm off to take a bubble bath ;)

Creature of habit

The more I think about it
The more I realise I'm a creature of habit
I do the exact same thing every single day in the same routine every single morning when I wake up - that was a strange sentance
No but seriously, I also do the same exact thing every single night in the same routine every night before I go to bed
It pretty much goes like this
My mobile alarm goes off
I hit snooze
Yes every single morning I hit snooze
Get off the bed with my eyes closed and turn the hot water boiler on
Go back to bed and go back to sleep
The mobile alarm goes off again
I hit snooze again
Few minutes later I'm rudely awakened by a CD programmed by me the night before
I listen for a few moments stretching every couple of seconds
I pray
Get off the bed and turn on the lights - my curtains seriously keep the light out.
I look at myself in the mirror and brush my hair
Tie it up into a knot at the top of my head
Grab a towel and disappear with the music blaring into the bathroom
I do this in the same routine every single morning
At night its pretty much similar
I take off my face
Uhm take off my make up
I'm just used to saying put on a face and take off my face lol
Brush my hair
Tie the big knot again
Brush my teeth
Put on my night face
Uhm overnight cream lol
Mositurise my hands and feet
Watch TV
Pray
Go to bed
I'm a creature of habit
Makes me feel like a trained dolphin in a zoo

Nothing else matters

Nothing else matters
When I’m busy
Nothing else matters
When I’m tired
Nothing else matters
When I’m wearing tight shoes
Nothing else matters
When I’m getting a new pimple
Nothing else matters
When I'm thirsty
Nothing else matters
When I’m hungry
Nothing else matters
When I have a headache
Nothing else matters
When I'm drunk
Nothing else matters
When I'm out there
Nothing else matters
When I'm wearing new shoes
Nothing else matters
When my diamond ring shines in the sunlight
Nothing else matters
When I'm smiling
Nothing else matters
When I'm laughing
Nothing else matters
When I see a baby smile
Nothing else matters
When I laugh till my cheeks hurt
Nothing else matters
When I'm writing this blog
Everything matters

Spillover?

A million little hammers inside my head.
Thats what my head felt like all day today.
It was just terrible.
It all started with the painting thats going on in the house.
Got aggrevated by the long painful drive from my clients office to my office.
Got even worse by the hunger pangs.
And then the actual painful part set in.
Some jack ass in my office decided to light incense sticks at work!
And my client picked today of all days to drive me up the wall.
I promise you, he called me a hundred times.
And I swear it was a minimum of a hundred.

Nothing saved me.
Not the twenty minute nap I tried to grab on the couch in the bar.
Not the paracetamol I popped.
Not even the walk downstairs.

I figured I was in quite a mood when people started avoiding me...LOL
Felt like I had the plague or somethin...LOL

So, not quite the way I had planned to start the new year
But, what the hell...
Lets just call it week 52 spillover eh?

Leave me a comment to make me feel better...willya?

I didn't turn into a pumpkin

Happy new year blogger friends.

There is one point I wanna make on today's post.

I didn't turn into a pumpkin at the turn of the new year

Pumpkin eh

Well the story goes like this.
I had the whole world call me on new years eve to ask me what I was going to be doing at the turn of the year.
And what I had planned wasn't what they wanted to hear.
All I wanted to do was watch TV and not just any TV channel - the government national channel called 'Doordarshan' - a channel not watched in the metros anymore. The only channel with rural penetration. A channel lost in a city like Bombay with the onslaught of Cable and satellite. A channel that onlt gets watched in Bombay when there is a cricket match that isn't being telecast on any other sports channel like ESPN or Star Sports.

Yeah I wanted to bring in my new year watching Doordarshan.

"Are you depressed?"
"Why don't you join us?"
"Be ready at 10, we're coming to fetch you"
"Whaaaaaaaaaat"

Those were the reactions I got from everyone around me.

I actually managed to find 2-3 like minded people that didn't mind staying home and watching Doordarshan with me.

Why

Cause thats what I used to do when I was a child.

But everyone around me made me feel like if I stayed home watching doordarshan, I'd turn into a pumpkin

But I didn't

I'm still here :) So well...
